How can we add your error information to error dataflow?

Dear Rémy,

How can we add your error information to the error dataflow? We're running a datawarehouse and we would like to add your error information to the error records. Can you please let us know how we could do that?

Many thanks & kind regards

You have to install "Error Output's Description" component on all developpers computers, and on the server which will launch packages during night.

Download the project, the installation instruction are written in "README.txt".

Dear Rémy,

Sorry if I was a bit unclear: we've installed your component, and it works fine, but we would like to do the following:

- there are some error records (which have the cryptic Microsoft codes), and we would like to extend the error records with the results of your component, so that we would get for each error record the error description and error column name.

Can you please let us know whether this is possible?

Many thanks & kind regards,

Yes, this component has been done for that.

In a dataflow, you just have to connect a red arrow (error flow) to this component. Open it, and check that "EOD_ErrorDescription" and "EOD_ErrorColumn" are checked.

Then add a destination component (flat file or database) which will receive the error flow. Connect the green arrow to this destination component.

(For your information, if you made any change in you dataflow (rename column, add column, etc...) you must reopen Error Description Component and click OK for it to integrates new columns.)

Dear Rémy,

Many thanks for your answer: somehow our package was corrupt and the installation wasn't quite right. All has been fixed, and now we can use your component like we wanted. Your component will meet the needs of a lot of people using SSIS! Excellent work!
